Branding Options for EnergyCAP Online

The following are valid branding options for EnergyCAP Online version 2.2

Option #1: Database-level Branding (Hosted & Non-Hosted Clients)

Database-level branding is available to hosted and non-hosted clients. For clients whose data is hosted by ECI, database-level branding (changing the company logo at the database level) is presently the only option for branding.

EnergyCAP Online has a default logo which displays in the upper left corner of the browser window following a successful login:

Clients can replace this logo with their own logo by clicking the Settings button in EnergyCAP Online:

... and then copying and pasting the URL for their logo into the “Custom Logo” box:

Note, however, that the logo displaying at the logon screen cannot be replaced for hosted clients:

ECI-hosted users of EnergyCAP Online will only see the customized logo after they log into the application. This is the only branding option available to hosted clients at this time.

Option #2: Global Branding (Non-Hosted Clients Only)

For clients hosting their own EnergyCAP database and installation of Online, a global branding option is available. The client may opt to replace the default EnergyCAP logo in both the login screen and in every database by modifying the config.xml file in the /assets/ folder of the Online installation directory.

For global branding, replace the highlighted xml coding...

... with the following:

<!-- LogoImage: imageSource:Branding -->

<LogoImage imageSource="http://www.imagehost.com/mymage.jpg" />

(The URL in quotation marks corresponds to the web location of the desired brand logo image.)

EXAMPLE: <LogoImage imageSource="http://www.energycap.com/media/images/logo.png" />

Option #3: Combining database-level and global options (Non-Hosted Clients Only)

For consultant clients who host multiple databases belonging to their own clients, both options 1 and 2 may be used together. The consultant would simply use option 2 with their own logo, resulting in a branded login screen. The consultant would then change the logo at the database level for each of their clients. Clients would then see the consultant logo at the login screen, and then their own organization logo after logging into the application.

Option #4: Client creation of a custom login screen (Non-Hosted Clients Only)

Another option for consultant clients who have elected for ECI to host their clients’ data is to develop a customized login screen in place of the default EnergyCAP login screen. With this option, the responsibility rests with the consultant to create the login screen, including the required fields and programmatic functionality necessary for the login.

It is expected that the consultant has the necessary technical knowledge to implement this solution, which requires the consultant’s custom login screen to interact with the XML-based, preliminary Web Service offered in Online 2.2. The requirements for such a login screen are discussed in the EnergyCAP Online installation instructions in section 9.6.1, and it is expected that the client will take the necessary precautions to secure users’ password data with SSL encryption.*

Because of the highly customized nature of this option, clients may be assessed a fee.

* Although not a requirement for this process to work, this encryption step is highly advisable.

Option #5: Providing a custom “logout” URL (Non-Hosted Clients Only)

In conjunction with Option #4, consultant clients may elect to submit a “logout URL” as part of the login information passed to EnergyCAP Online from the custom login screen. With this option, when users log out of the application they will be redirected to the provided URL, rather than being returned to the default EnergyCAP login screen. The requirements for implementing this “logout URL” are discussed in the EnergyCAP Online installation instructions in section 9.6.2.

Because of the highly customized nature of this option, clients may be assessed a fee.
