EnergyCAP Online Overview

EnergyCAP^® Online is a web-based software application designed to provide internet viewers with access to their EnergyCAP Enterprise organizational structure and reporting tools. Currently, EnergyCAP Online provides view-only access to primary Managers from the installed LAN version, as well as an interactive module for basic bill processing. Future iterations and/or related products will include online tools for organization design/maintenance, user and vendor updates, and other EnergyCAP functions available in the installed version.

Login

The EnergyCAP Online interface enables individual users to access their data via a password-protected online login. EnergyCAP Online provides instant access to EnergyCAP data and reports from any computer with internet access.

Login requires an EnergyCAP Username and password, which must first be set up through the User Manager in EnergyCAP Enterprise. The user must also possess knowledge of the URL (web address) where the database program resides, and the database name (datasource).

EnergyCAP Online offers database accessibility to remote offices that are not connected to the SQL Server database via a LAN, and to infrequent users who do not need complete functionality. The current version of EnergyCAP Online allows you to:

• View the EnergyCAP Online version of the Facility Manager Tree View (organization hierarchy) and all PowerViews
• View the EnergyCAP Online version of the Group Manager Tree View and benchmarking charts
• View the EnergyCAP Online version of the Account Manager Tree View, Cost Centers, PowerViews, bill data and bill images
• View the list of Vendors from the Contact Manager of the installed LAN version, along with associated accounts.
• Perform basic bill processing functions online, include bill entry, auditing and bill problem processing.
• Run reports

NOTE: To read detailed information about any web-displayed PowerView or Chart, simply click the chart. A popup Explain Chart window will appear. When done, click OK to close the window.

Navigating EnergyCAP Online

Navigation in EnergyCAP Online is simple. All primary program areas can be accessed at any time by clicking the main menu (green bar/arrow icon) and clicking/selecting the desired module from the drop-down list:

Home: Welcome window and introduction to EnergyCAP Online

Buildings & Meters: Online PowerViews duplicating the Facility Manager of the installed EnergyCAP LAN version.

Groups & Benchmarking: Online view-only benchmarking tool duplicating the Group Manager of the installed EnergyCAP LAN version.

Cost Centers & Accounts: Online view-only organization account structure duplicating the Account Manager of the installed EnergyCAP LAN version.

Vendors & Rates: Online list of vendors and associated accounts.

Bill Processing: Online Bill Processing tool duplicating most of the functionality present in the Work Flow Manager of the installed EnergyCAP LAN version.

Reports: Online report generating tool duplicating most of the functonality present in the Report Manager of the installed EnergyCAP LAN version.

Basic Interface

When the user accesses the correct URL and completes the login procedure successfully, the EnergyCAP Online interface will appear in the browser window.

Depending on configuration settings, the initial view will be either a Home page or the Buildings & Meters page. If the Home page is displayed, it will provide a Welcome pane containing basic information and navigation instructions. The Home page can be accessed at any time by clicking Home from the top menu.

The Home navigation pane includes clickable links to:

• Buildings & Meters: Corresponds to the Facility Manager in EnergyCAP Enterprise
  
• Groups & Benchmarking: Corresponds to the Group Manager in EnergyCAP Enterprise
  
• Cost Centers & Accounts: Corresponds to the Account Manager in EnergyCAP Enterprise
  
• Vendors & Rates: Corresponds to the Vendor list from the Contact Manager in EnergyCAP Enterprise
  
• Bill Processing: Provides basic bill processing functionality with online tools for bill entry and editing, bill auditing and bill approval.
  
• Reports: Corresponds to the Report Manager in EnergyCAP Enterprise
  

At the top right side of the browser window are several clickable links:

Home: Returns to the EnergyCAP Online Home page.

Settings: Allows for configuration of preferred internet settings and options including:

• Connection Timeout: Default is 60 minutes. If there is a lack of browser activity during the timeframe indicated, the connection will timeout.
• Report Filter Values-User: Default is Switch to Search After 100. Value refers to the number of entries which will be displayed at one time. Impacts EnergyCAP web performance speed. For larger databases, the Search option may be preferred. For smaller organizations, the Drop-down option may be preferable.
• Custom Logo: Default is blank. If desired, input URL/path for the organization logo (60 x 600 pixel maximum size).
• Show Home: Default is Yes. For branding purposes, some organizations may prefer to hide the Home page. When Home is hidden, the default home page becomes Buildings & Meters.

Logout: Terminates database access. The user will be returned to the Login page.

There is also a dynamic context-sensitive Search text box which takes the place of the basic and advanced search options in EnergyCAP Enterprise. As characters are entered, a list with contents matching the character string will appear beneath the Search field. The list is populated from account/meter/group data available in the EnergyCAP database. Click the desired match to link to the selected account/meter/group.

The EnergyCAP interface is divided into two panes for most views; a navigation/tree view pane on the left and a presentment pane on the right. The left pane reveals hierarchical data associated with the selected view. The right pane displays data associated with the selected object in the hierarchy.
